Filling the Compiler's Field

August 13. It can be filled.

At ten past nine I counted the term for the reply.

Eighteen days remain.

Two of the three items asked after are settled by applying.

Only the compiler is left.

At twenty past nine I opened the four entries in the union catalogue.

The four with the same title. Four different holding libraries.

The compiler field is blank in all four.

Each entry has eleven fields. Title, author, imprint and year of publication are in them.

Holding library, shelf mark and form of material are in them.

Compiler, place of publication, recovering party and remarks are empty.

The four are the same down to the fields.

At half past nine I looked for who fills the blanks.

It says the compiler field is entered by the holding library.

Below that there is one more line.

It says a blank may be supplemented by a participating institution.

At ten to ten I looked at whether this room is a participating institution.

It is not entered as a holding library. Just as confirmed in April.

It has a query account.

The right of supplement attaches to the right of query.

At five past ten I opened the registration records of the four entries.

The day they were made is the same for all four. March of seventy-eight.

The month entered in the header of the eleven transcript pages.

There is no field in the registration record for entering that the month is the same.

At twenty past ten I counted the entries in the whole catalogue that have a compiler field.

Thirty-one.

Of those, four are blank.

Those four are these four.

One of the remaining twenty-seven is the set. The set's compiler field is filled.

At half past ten I read the procedure for supplement.

It says to attach supporting material to a supplementary entry.

What happens if nothing is attached is not entered.

I went down to the attachment field.

It is optional.

At twenty to eleven I looked for the grounds.

I looked for where it is entered who the compiler of the four volumes is.

The colophon has a compiler field and it is blank.

The foreword has no field for the recovering party.

The afterword has no field for the one handing over.

I looked in all three places and in all three there is none.

At eleven I found one thing that could serve as grounds.

The set's compiler field.

In the set's compiler field there are six characters. Pnakotic Press.

The imprint of the four volumes is those same six characters.

That carrying the compiler of the same imprint across to the four volumes is a supplement can be entered.

The one that filled the set's compiler field is this room, in August last year.

The grounds are this room's own entry.

At one I looked up August last year in the sixth sub-number.

It is entered that there was no ground for the entry.

It is entered that leaving it blank is not caught.

It is entered that they filled it.

I read the entry of the week after.

It is entered that whether the reviving was theirs or the field's does not divide.

At twenty past one I counted what comes of leaving it blank.

The compiler cannot be entered in the reply.

The set cannot go up on the interlending list.

The set cannot leave this room.

Beyond that nothing comes of it.

There is a field on the inventory form for counting blanks left. There is no field for the one who left them.

At twenty to two I counted what comes of filling it.

It can be entered in the reply.

It can go up on the list.

What that field shows on the list is not the content of the field. It is the notation of the account that filled it.

At two I looked at what may be entered.

What goes in a compiler field is a personal name or the name of an institution.

My name may go in.

In April last year the one before me put their own name in this room's compiler field.

At twenty past two I looked for another way.

The way of not supplementing, and asking the holding libraries and entering the compiler from them.

In April I asked all four. Four colophons came. The compiler field was blank in all four.

That way has already been gone down.

At twenty to three I opened the box.

Seven articles. Seven marks. Day five hundred and thirty-six.

The sixth field is eleven thousand seven hundred and twenty-three. The set's row was opened a hundred and fifty-five times yesterday and the imprint route a hundred and eight.

The right-hand material is eight hundred and eight pages. The date of the added page is the eleventh of the ninth month of ninety-nine. The third line of page five hundred and thirty-nine has been blank two hundred and twenty-eight days. The original of the fifth bundle is a hundred and seventy-seven pages and has not grown for six hundred and six days.

At three I looked at whether a supplement is made known to the holding library.

It says a supplementary entry is not notified to the holding library.

There is no notification field.

The four holding libraries must see it on the list to know that the compiler field of their own entry has been filled.

At twenty past three I looked at whether a supplement can be undone.

There is no procedure for deleting a supplementary entry.

There is a procedure for amending one. The record of the amendment remains.

A record of returning it to a blank field is an entry too.

At half past three I sat.

Until ten to four I entered nothing.

It is the longest I have entered nothing since coming to this room.

At four I opened the first entry.

The cursor went into the compiler field.

Before striking the first character I took my hand away.

I looked at the attachment field again. It can be left blank.

At twenty past four I put in my name.

I put it in the second and the third and the fourth as well.

The attachment field I left blank in all four.

At half past four I pressed save.

At twenty to five I opened the list anew.

There are characters in the compiler field of the four entries.

They are not my name.
