Gashadokuro is a giant skeleton yokai over ten meters tall, said to form from the massed skulls of those who died in battle or of starvation. It is normally invisible and held to be indestructible.
It is tied to the legend of Takiyasha-hime, daughter of Taira no Masakado, who is said to have conjured the first Gashadokuro from the war dead. It appears around two in the morning, making a "gachi gachi" clatter with its teeth as it hunts the lone traveler.
