This Man spread around 2008 as a campaign asking, "Have you ever seen this man in your dreams?" Alongside a drawing of an ordinary man with a round face and heavy brows came the claim that thousands of people worldwide, unknown to one another, had dreamed of the same face. It was later revealed to be a fabrication deliberately created by a marketer.

The core of this case is how a myth can be manufactured by design. It shows that a plausible image and the mere appearance of collective testimony are enough to birth a modern urban legend — and at the same time reveals that shared testimony is not the same as truth.
