The Holders Series is a collection of second-person instruction tales in which "you" are the protagonist. Each entry guides you through a ritual — go to a particular asylum or place, say a fixed phrase to the receptionist — and describes obtaining one of 538 "Objects" at its end, or meeting a terrible fate. A warning runs through the whole series: gather all 538 in one place and the world will end.
The heart of the horror is a form that pulls the reader in as an actor. The second-person "do this" directive is the skeleton of rule-based horror, casting the reader not as a mere spectator but as the performer of a rite. The premise that completing the set brings catastrophe touches the sealing thesis: a threat that manifests only when scattered, sealed fragments are brought together.
