Almond Water is regarded in Backrooms lore as the single most important survival supply. Believed to clear the mind and ward off mutation or madness, the drink turns up in vending machines or on empty shelves — but it is said never to appear while someone is watching, slipping quietly into place only once the gaze is withdrawn.
It is a rare case in which the act of looking causes absence. Opposite to the other Backrooms entries where observation summons a threat, here salvation appears only when you are not watching. It is another face of observational ambiguity, with the relation between gaze and existence turned inside out.
