The Obayifo is a vampire- and witch-like being from the folklore of the Ashanti people of West Africa. It inhabits the body of any man or woman, passing as an ordinary person by day.
When travelling at night, it is said to emit a phosphorescent light from its armpits and anus. A similar creature among the Dahomey people, the asiman, can shapeshift and fly, turning itself into a ball of light to hunt for prey in the night sky.
