조수 아래의 등불
1934年、黄海の孤島に立つ無人の灯台。前任者が遺した潮汐表に、月のない夜にだけ満ちる十三番目の潮が見つかる。
A lighthouse on a deserted West Sea island. The lone keeper finds, in his predecessor's tide table, a thirteenth tide that comes on moonless nights.
The keeper takes down the printed tide table and draws his own. The hand copying his predecessor’s extra cell fills in a fourteenth he never chose.
By the tide drawn in his own hand, the keeper takes the lamp down onto the flats. The place the water left runs on past where any printed table allows, and the lighthouse clockwork stops at last.
