Sirin

시린

The Sirin is a creature of Slavic folklore with the head of a woman and the body of a bird, its feathers shimmering in hues borrowed from the twilight sky.

Its song holds two contrary powers: it brings an overwhelming joy so profound that it eclipses all earthly concerns, yet it can also draw listeners away from their worldly paths until they are lost to the world they once knew. In Russian art it is often paired with the Alkonost as the two birds of joy and sorrow.
