The Huldra is a seductive forest creature of Scandinavian folklore, one of the rå or warden spirits of nature. She bears a distinctly inhuman feature — the hairy legs and tail of an animal (usually a cow's or a fox's) and a back resembling a hollowed-out tree.
She appears in the form of a young farm woman and can be very kind, especially to those who treat her with respect; tales tell in particular of her kindness toward charcoal burners.
