The Faceling, classified as Entity 9 in Backrooms lore, is a humanoid being with a human silhouette but only smooth, featureless skin where a face should be. Aggression differs greatly from one to the next: usually non-hostile and even open to trade, yet dangerous when solitary individuals or provoked groups turn — an unprepared wanderer who attacks a faceling, the lore notes, will almost always be killed.
The heart of the horror is the absence of a face. To wear a human shape yet offer no expression and no gaze to read leaves you unable to gauge the other’s intent. Before a thing that resembles a person but is not one, there is no way to know in advance what is safety and what is threat.
