The Cheollima is a legendary horse said to gallop a thousand li (about 400 kilometers) in a single day, appearing in Chinese classics around the 3rd century BCE and spreading across East Asian mythology. It is held to be so swift and noble that no mortal can mount it.
It also served as a literary metaphor for a person of latent, unrecognized talent. Called Cheollima in Korea and Senrima in Japan, the name lives on in North Korea through the Chollima Movement and the nickname of its football team.
