The Kikimora is a female house spirit of Slavic mythology who may turn out a good or a bad spirit depending on the behaviour of the householder. Her form is never fixed: she may have the snout of a dog or the beak of a chicken, or appear as a small, hunchbacked old woman with a pointed nose and disheveled hair.
When a home is well kept she looks after the chickens and the housework and spins thread by night; but where the household is disordered she whistles, breaks dishes, and makes noise through the dark hours.
