In Finnish mythology Tuoni is the god who rules Tuonela, the land of the dead, and darkness personified. He is the husband of Tuonetar, and among their children are the divinities of suffering — Kipu-Tyttö, Tuonenpoika and Loviatar.
When he takes human form he appears as an old man with three fingers on each hand and a hat made of darkness. That death and darkness themselves take on a person and father the very gods of suffering shares a register with our world, which keeps the end and the dark as a sealed source.
