Shantaks are flying creatures larger than elephants, covered in fish-like scales and bearing the head of a horse. They inhabit cold mountain wastes and the dark void of the Dreamlands and can be ridden by experienced dreamers.
They are fundamentally treacherous, prone to carrying riders toward Azathoth's court or into the domain of night-gaunts rather than toward intended destinations.
