The Hunting Horror is a serpentine, winged creature that serves Nyarlathotep, characterized with bat-like features as a flesh-tearing hunter. H. P. Lovecraft introduced it in "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath."
In the tale, hoary Nodens raises a howl of triumph when Nyarlathotep, close on his quarry, is stopped baffled by a glare that sears his formless hunting-horrors to grey dust. They function as servitors of Nyarlathotep — both hunters and symbols of his dark power.
