Bakeneko

바케네코

Also: Monster Cat

The Bakeneko is a monster cat that gains supernatural power after living long. It is told to stand on two legs or speak human words, and to disguise itself as a dead master or family member to take their place.

Its core is the horror of mimicry: an animal that has long shared the home suddenly becomes a thing that imitates humans. The collapse of everyday trust comes from the dread that the most familiar companion may be a monster eyeing your place.
