Bakunawa

바쿠나와

Also: Bent Snake

Bakunawa is a dragon-like serpent of Philippine mythology, prominent in the Visayas and Bicol regions. Its name means "bent snake," and it is usually depicted with a coiled tail and a single horn on its nose.

It was believed to cause eclipses, earthquakes, and storms, but is best known for devouring the moon. Ancient Filipinos drove it off by banging pots and pans to make loud noise, and it was later syncretized with the Naga, Rahu, and Ketu of Hindu-Buddhist myth.
